Whew! What a week… we finally got started on our master bathroom remodel but it is far from being completed. When we started peeling back the flooring we found that this was not the first time the floor had been ‘fixed’ and we also found more of the drywall mud patches on the floor like we had found in the kitchen and laundry room. We also found that some of the previous fixes included glue and nails which made the removal process more tedious but more on that in a bit.

Our garden has been coming along quite well other than a surge of pests which are eager to eat all of the food we’ve been working so hard to grow. The weather has been extremely hot but we have been getting a few showers that have helped. I did invest in a couple of new sprinklers that I’ll try to share about later. We have been putting up a few more videos on YouTube as well if you’d like to check them out.
Some of our garden plants are not looking too happy with the neglect from us being sick but we are so thankful for the rains that we have been getting… God is faithful to provide!
We ripped the huge tub out during the middle of the week and then that weekend we started removing everything else… this means that all the stuff in the bathroom has been relocated into our main areas which makes everything feel more than a little cluttered but I thought I would be ok as it would only be temporary. On Saturday night we started being taken down one at a time with a horrible stomach bug.
Supermom Tip: Save the day with a Puke Bucket
This bug was bad… really bad. It took over a week for it to run its course through our home and every time we thought it was over we’d get knocked down again. We had a really rough time as we had just recovered from another bug a week or two before this!
We have managed to get most of the bathroom flooring up but we do need to replace a small portion of the master bedroom floor during this remodel as well as the floor damage is pretty extensive.

It was a good thing that we had never attempted to shower in there as the floor under the shower was nonexistent! Other areas of the floor had huge holes and the linoleum was the only thing keeping everything from falling through! (We still need to replace a good portion of the bedroom and under the kitchen cabinets as well because of the same issues.)
We got the toilet turned around to make more room for it to be enclosed in a private room later on. The plumbing has all been capped and/or relocated to make preparations for the new layout which will include our master closet and a walk-in shower. We are making everything handicap accessible as this is the bathroom that we use for Shyanne and as she gets older it will be easier to bathe her with these changes. Our other bathroom is very small and we can’t keep her supplies in there so we have always kept her things in our bathroom which just made things much easier.

We bought one like the picture on clearance with the intention of going to another store for one just like it the next day but then it was no longer available so now we have this one and a white one just like it.
We had a small budget to start with and it was rapidly dwindling but we did find a couple of vanities… my brain was not in the mood for shopping so I’m starting to second-guess the choices now but we will use what we have so that we can at least get the toilet and sink functioning again to make things a little easier around here.
We will finish the shower and then frame for the toilet room and closet. After that, we will get the lighting and drywall completed and hopefully wrap this up in the next couple of months.
I’m just over this whole remodel already but we thank God that we have a place to live and food to eat. We thank Him for the ability to be able to do the repairs on our home that we need to do when we need to do them. This home journey has been so very stressful in itself but He has been faithful to supply us with our needs.

If we hadn’t had so much trouble getting the old floor up we could’ve had the new floor put down on the same day but life had other plans and then the stomach bug and other unexpected things so we’re doing what we can when we can between work and other necessary obligations.
If you’ve read this far through my crazy ramblings- Thank You! My head is all over the place right now as we have so much going on here… much more than we can even share right now. This has been an extremely stressful period for us not only with the stomach bug and remodel but we’ve also had a close family member admitted to the hospital… we could use some prayers for healing.
Thank You and God Bless!
