Homemade Jewelry Cleaner

I wear a lot of costume jewelry when I go square dancing. It just completes some of my outfits and adds a bit of sparkle which is so pretty when you are dancing and twirling.

What happens when your favorite jewelry loses that sparkle? Well, I use one of my favorite cleaning methods below to restore the shine.

(Note: proceed with caution if you have expensive or one of a kind jewelry that may not be replaceable.)

Alka Seltzer Method

Drop the tablets in the water and let your jewelry sit in this for about 5-10 minutes.

  • Tinfoil to line the bowl
  • 1 T. Baking soda (or salt)
  • 1 T. Dish detergent (optional)
  • Soft toothbrush
  • 1-2 c. Hot water

Line your bowl with tin foil.

Fill with hot water.

Add the baking soda or salt and dish detergent.

Let the jewelry soak for 5-10 minutes.

Remove, rinse, and polish with a soft cloth.

Did you know that you can also use the Norwex cloths to clean and polish your jewelry too?
