Creative Gift Wrap Ideas

I don’t know about you but my phone has been going crazy with notifications about packages that will be arriving as we just finished up the majority of our Christmas shopping. I have a huge black tote in my room that I am keeping the gifts in… yes, I believe they will all fit in the one tote this year.

Now, I have to figure out how to wrap them. I have a bunch of leftover paper from years past. There was a time when I liked to have things color coordinated and usually each kiddo had their own paper to keep things a little more organized as the tags seemed to get lost before Christmas morning. I have always seen the towers that people do with different figures and they look so cute but I don’t want to buy special paper for them.

I have an idea of just buying some fabric and making reusable bags but maybe making them so that they could stack and make these adorable gift towers… with our new 3-4 gift rule it might make this a real possibility!

Here are some cute pics of the ideas I have from Pinterest:

I found these pictures on this link HERE but they wouldn’t let me go to the sites because of a ‘phishing error’ so I took some screenshots.

I also really like the idea of making or reusing things for gift wrap:

  • paper grocery bags
  • old popcorn tins
  • newspapers, magazines, or comics for kids – these could also be used to make pretty bows HERE
  • recycled paper … we get a lot of brown paper in packages that would work great
  • decorated recycled paper … the kids could decorate some of that paper with unique artwork
  • scrap fabric that could also be sewn into reusable gift bags or check out this link HERE
  • flea market/yard sale finds like old tins, hat boxes, etc.
  • you can also buy some cute reusable bags HERE, HERE, or HERE**
  • old gift bags
  • twine or recycled ribbon in place of tape
  • old maps
  • old shirts (or new ones that are part of the gift) check out this link HERE
  • pretty napkins, dish towels, handkerchiefs, etc.
  • old burlap feed sacks
  • Butcher paper like this HERE**
  • old cereal boxes or crackers or just about any old box… turn it into a cute gift bag HERE
  • old cards/postcards as gift tags
  • use dried fruits, flowers, or twigs and pine sprigs/cones for decorating the packages
  • for kitchen gifts, you can wrap it with a dish towel, tie it with some pretty twine, and use a wooden spoon in place of a bow.
  • pretty socks… preferably new ones 🙂 you can find themed socks for cheap around the holidays.

I think it’s clear that pretty much anything lying around the house could be used as a wrap or container for gifts… get creative and have fun! You might just find that you wrap the gifts so pretty that you don’t want to give them away!
