This week we are super busy but I wanted to give everyone a little update. We made it through Hurricane Debby with only a bit of damage… mostly to plants and fruit trees. We’ve been cleaning up lots of limbs since the water has dried up a bit.

We’ve also been super busy getting the rest of the house ready for an upcoming baby shower… I’m so excited! I hate that my daughter and son-in-law don’t live closer but we can’t wait to see them… and the rest of the family that will be coming, of course.

We finally got most of the living room situated and Mr. Awesome surprised me by going to pick out a new couch… it is so roomy and comfy!
The kids have been playing some pool but we had to cover the table so we could start getting some decorations put together.

I also came up with a super budget friendly and quick solution for the kitchen floors… I painted them yesterday afternoon. Mr. Awesome got home while I was mid-project and he helped me with some of the painting.
They aren’t the greatest… I really need to work on my ‘grouting’ as my poster board template was getting a little messy towards the end of the project.

I also spray painted the floor vent to make it look a better. If my ‘beige’ had been a little more ‘beigey’ then it would’ve matched much better with the existing tile. I might try to look for something a little darker later but for now this works… I have really been trying to use things we already have and I’m pretty sure we probably have a darker shade… somewhere.

Mr. Awesome has also been working on a new countertop for our kitchen island… I love it so far. I think the Jacobean is one of my favorite stain colors!
Today we did some more yard work and then we came in around lunchtime as it just gets so darn HOT! After lunch the kids brought in some of the boxes of decorations and we started working on some things for the party.

I had also ordered some diapers on the last Walmart order so I attempted to make my first ever diaper cake… I think it turned out pretty cute!

The girls and I made some flowers from cupcake liners to decorate the cake with… they are so easy and so cute, not to mention that they are quite budget-friendly!
Here is a link to a video tutorial that is similar to the tutorial I had seen… I can’t find the original one.
I can see more paper flowers in our future as we also have a wedding coming up quickly! Whew… so much to be thankful for as we are so, so blessed!
Anyways… we hope that everyone is doing well. We will pop in again soon to update you all about the baby shower and we’ll try to share plenty of pics.
God Bless!
