Making Memories: Baby in Bloom Baby Shower Pics and Life Update w/Recipe Links

Wow! We are so blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family.

We had a ton of people show up for the baby shower to surround my daughter and son-in-law with love… it was AMAZING!!! I didn’t get as many pictures as I’d liked to have, some of them have been misplaced or accidentally deleted, and I won’t be sharing some that I did get because I didn’t get permission to post them from other people but we will share what we can and hope that it can inspire you. (We also got to go to an ultrasound the day before and see little miss who was very cute!)

They had decided on a pasta bar buffet and there was plenty of food such as:

We were a little behind schedule so we were busy cooking when the guests arrived but I think the food made up for any waiting they had to do plus everyone was so busy mingling and playing games that I really don’t think it bothered anyone.

There games and activities included:

  • Diaper Pong
  • Diaper Raffle
  • Diaper changing (diapers on dolls and everyone was blindfolded)
  • Baby Bottle Chugging (apple juice)
  • Guess that poo? (Try microwaving the diapers with candy… makes it a little more realistic!)
  • Guess how big? (Guessing how big the Mama-to-be’s belly is with a ribbon, toilet paper, or such)
  • Guess how many candies?
  • Corn Hole outside
  • Fishing and I think a few boat rides
  • Arts and Crafts for the kids outside
  • Nature/Garden walks

The diaper cake was pretty cute… the first one I’ve made! I mentioned it in this previous post:

So much to be thankful for!

They received a few of the items from their wishlist, a lot of diapers, a little cash, and lots of love. I made sure that we pulled out some of the baby stuff in the shed to go through. They should be pretty well-stocked for the first couple of months.

I think they recently got a car seat so they are pretty much set with all the ‘essentials’ to bring baby home… I can’t wait! Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they go through these last couple of months. We are praying for a safe, quick, and healthy delivery!

It was a beautiful day… a little warm**… but beautiful! This was also the first time that we’ve had all of my kids, his kids, and our kids together as my oldest son surprised us all by showing up! We also got to catch up with a lot of friends and family that we haven’t seen in a while and a lot of the younger kids had fun exploring the gardens and checking out the animals… it was so much fun!

**This is the time of year when the temperatures can get plum miserable around here and the ACs just don’t seem to keep up. We did some rearranging and added another portable AC unit to keep things a bit more comfortable.

Here are some links to some of the other decorations that we used… some of them may not be pictured as they were outside or had other people in the photos:

We are now in full-on Wedding Planning mode… as that date is quickly approaching!

I did print out the handy Event Planning Notebook that I published a while back. Ms. O and I filled it in over the weekend and we went over some of the ceremony details. We also found the notes from Big Sis’s wedding planning… so nice to have that to reference and see a few things that we hadn’t really given thought to yet.

This weekend we did a lot of planning for the fine details, we finalized the menu, made grocery lists, checked supplies and decorations, placed orders for more supplies and decor, double-checked deliveries, planned out canopy and table set up, and so much more. This was our first really big ‘in-person’ planning session and we got a lot done! We can see it all coming together.

We’ve been coordinating with family and friends to get some items to borrow for the event. My sister had some of the decorations that we used for the baby shower and because the color schemes are so similar we will be able to reuse them for the wedding too… it’s so AMAZING when things work out like that. I don’t think we could have gotten so many similar items from so many places if we had been intentionally trying to do so but God has made it happen.

There is still so much to do and then I rearranged things a bit… AGAIN… we needed to add another AC and because of the window sizes, we only had a couple of window options that would work. This meant that things had to be rearranged. Here are some pics of our current setup and some of the decor that we left up… I don’t know what happened to the pictures I had of the party decor though. —Don’t mind the messies as we had just finished school when I snapped these pics!

I always have last-minute projects like painting the floors and a new island top… check out this post HERE to see all about that!

Mr. Awesome has also been making progress on the cross for the ceremony… it looks so good!

I guess I better get this wrapped up as I have a HUGE to-do list for this week, and another for next week, and the week after… and so on… so much to get done! We did see this cute video on YouTube which definitely has the vibes that we are going for and I think we can make it happen!

We pray that you all have a very blessed weekend!

P.S. If you have any back yard wedding tips please let us know in the comments!
