My family loves the Hobbit books and movies, so when I saw that there was an actual ‘Hobbit Day’ on September 22nd, I had to make a note of it on our Fall Perpetual Meal Plan. Last year, we were in the middle of wedding prep, followed by hurricane prep, so it kind of got forgotten about. This year, my kiddos have not let me forget!
We worked together to make a menu so that we can celebrate… we might even watch the movies, if we can! We might also enjoy our Elevenses outdoors under our garden arches… so many ideas. Our kids love reading and we love to encourage them so this is a cute way to keep that spark ALIVE!

Here is the menu we came up with:

Most of these recipes can be made ahead of time, so the prep doesn’t have to be last-minute or stressful on the day of your celebration. You could also buy some of the items premade and just plate them pretty for serving… frozen quiche, canned biscuits, cut up fruit from the produce section, honey buns, canned apple pie filling, snack cakes, packaged cookies, powdered or filled donuts, canned soups, deli meat salads and croissants or white bread, frozen meals and sides, and you could easily substitute some frozen desserts for some of these recipes!
Don’t make it HARD for yourself and just do the best you can… the memories will still be special. We have a ton of other recipes on the blog, if you want to explore other menu possibilities.
Here is a fancy menu option, if you like, or a blank one that you can write your own menu on:
