Biblical Feasts: Passover Menu & Activities

If you’ve been around here for a bit, then you probably know that we have been on a journey to learn more about the Biblical Feasts. Well, Passover is almost upon us, and I decided that being prepared makes it more likely that I can follow through with the intentions of celebrating this year.

We plan to try to incorporate some traditional dishes, and we plan to eat by candlelight whenever possible. Please note that I am not an expert, and most of these ideas are just ideas that I have, and I can not say that they are traditional or ‘allowed’ for a traditional Jewish celebration.

The Lord had told Moses to have the people take an unblemished lamb into their homes and let it there with them for four days before killing it for the Passover Dinner… we probably won’t be doing this but we will try to eat lamb.

Wine or Grape Juice is normally served with meals as well, although we will probably opt for sparkling juice, apple cider, or juice.

You can change whatever recipes you need to make this work for you… you can even buy premade foods and make this work. The idea is to celebrate your BLESSINGS and show THANKFULNESS to GOD.

Biblical Feasts: An Invitation to Attend

Celebrating Passover

The night before, you should try reading through Exodus 12. Leaven is symbolic of SIN, and all traces of it need to be removed from your home before the next day (The Feast of Unleavened Bread).

You can make a game of it by tearing a slice of bread into pieces, hide it around the house, and then lead the kids through the house to search for the leaven. You can do this with the lights off and use a flashlight to symbolize the light of Christ, who will help you find the SIN.

Gather all the pieces into a bag and save it for the next day when you will burn or dispose of the leaven.

You may choose to read Scripture during breakfast, or you may also choose to do a special Bible Study during this time.

Set the table with some pretty festive decor, if applicable. Add candles too!

Say a prayer before sitting down to eat. You may want to print out a Haggadah to say with your meal if you want to keep it more traditional. We use this one HERE:

I am printing this out as one-sided documents so that I can add in notes on the front/back of the pages, as needed. I will probably file the daily notes with the daily menu plans as well and keep this for future reference in my Holiday Planner.

I hope this inspires you to celebrate this Biblical Feast… remember these are just ideas and you can change things to work for you. Are there any suggestions you would make? If so, please let us know in the comments.

God Bless!
