There is something lovely about gathering around a table that looks a little different from an ordinary Tuesday. A pretty tablecloth, the soft glow of candles, and a few thoughtful touches can help us slow down and remember why we are gathering.
As Christians celebrating the biblical feasts, we are still learning. All we are trying to do is remember our FATHER, HIS WORD, and HIS PROMISES.
The decorations and household products shared here are optional. We do not present them as requirements from God or suggest that buying them makes a celebration more faithful. Some customs associated with the feasts developed later as traditions, and we want to be thoughtful about distinguishing those traditions from what Scripture actually says.
These are simply ways to make our gatherings feel a little more special while keeping our budget in mind.

Tablecloths and Table Runners
A tablecloth is one of the simplest ways to change the feel of a room. Even when the table underneath has seen years of homeschooling, craft projects, and family meals, a fresh covering can make it feel ready for a celebration.
A neutral tablecloth is a practical place to start because it can work for several feasts and other family occasions. A runner adds another layer of color without needing an entirely different table setting.
We also use a clear plastic protector over our tablecloth. With a busy family and plenty of food being passed around, easy cleanup is a welcome addition to the celebration!
Find our tablecloths, runners, and clear protectors here:
- Waterproof Spill-Proof Wrinkle-Free Tablecloth Washable, Kitchen Dining Tabletop Decoration
- Clear Plastic 100% Waterproof Table Cover Protector
- Cheesecloth Table Runner
- Happy Sukkot Table Runner
- Passover Table Runner
Budget idea: Check your linen cupboard first. A tablecloth you already own, a piece of fabric, an old sheet, or a thrifted runner may be all you need. I like to have a couple of different solid colored tablecloths, and I can change the runners out for different looks and themes.
Candles and Candleholders
Candles bring a gentle warmth to the table and help an everyday meal feel more intentional.
Simple candles in holders you already own can be beautiful. Flameless candles are another option, especially when decorating near children, greenery, or fabric.
For our family, the candles are a decorative touch. We are not presenting a particular candle arrangement or candle-lighting custom as a biblical requirement.
Find our candles and candleholders here:
- 3 Pillar Candle and Holder
- Flameless Taper Candles Led Battery Operated Remote Timer
- Flameless Votive Candles
- Vintage Ribbed Candle Holder
- 24 Hour Yahrtzeit Memorial and Yom Kippur Candle
Budget idea: A few candles grouped together can be enough. You do not need to fill the entire table—or leave everyone wondering where to put the potatoes.
Pretty Placemats and Dinnerware
Decorative paper placemats and disposable dinnerware can make the table feel festive while keeping cleanup manageable.
Reusable dishes work beautifully, too. There is no need for everyone’s plate to match perfectly. A shared tablecloth or coordinating napkins can bring everything together.
We want the table to feel welcoming, and we also want enough energy left to enjoy the people sitting around it.
Find our placemats, napkins, and dinnerware here:
- 200 Pcs Disposable Paper Placemats Bulk
- 350PCS White and Gold Plastic Plates, Disposable Dinnerware Set
- Shabbat Kiddush Cup Set
- Traditional Silver Plated Passover Seder Plate
- Challah Bread Covers
- 2 Pcs Passover Afikoman Bags set
Budget idea: Choose one decorative element, such as printed placemats, and pair it with plain dishes and napkins.
A Ram’s Horn or Shofar
A ram’s horn, often called a shofar, can provide a tangible connection to our study of biblical references to horns and trumpet sounds.
It deserves a little more explanation than an ordinary decoration. If you include one, share how your family uses it and which Scripture passages you discuss together. Owning a particular product should never be presented as a condition for remembering God’s appointed times.
It can also be a purchase to save for rather than something to buy when you are just beginning.
Find the ram’s horn we use here:
Budget idea: Study the relevant passages together before deciding whether this is something you want to add. You can begin learning without purchasing a horn.
Greenery and Simple Seasonal Touches
Some of the prettiest decorations may already be growing outside.
For a gathering such as Sukkot, garden greenery, branches, or seasonal produce can help create a lovely setting. A basket of fruit or a few small arrangements can add color without requiring a cart full of decorations.
Choose clean, insect-free materials, keep unfamiliar plants away from food, and place greenery well away from candle flames.
Budget idea: Let your garden and what you already have guide the decorating.
Scripture Cards and Activities for Children
Printed Scripture cards, handwritten place cards, and children’s artwork can add meaning to the table.
A short passage at each place setting gives everyone something to read and discuss. Children can help make paper decorations or illustrate something they have learned about the feast.
These little touches can become some of the most memorable parts of the celebration.

Building a Collection Slowly
You do not need to buy everything for your first celebration.
Start with what you have, set a spending limit, and add an item only when it will be useful. A neutral tablecloth, a few candles, and reusable serving pieces can work for many gatherings throughout the year.
Keep your feast supplies together in a labeled container so you can find them again. It is much easier to stay on budget when you remember that you already own the pretty napkins!
Keeping Our Focus
We enjoy making our home feel special for the feasts, but the decorations serve the gathering.
A simple table can still hold a meaningful meal, thoughtful conversation, prayer, and time in God’s Word. There is no need to stretch the household budget to recreate someone else’s celebration.
Whether we have matching dishes or a cheerful assortment, our desire remains the same:
To remember our FATHER, HIS WORD, and HIS PROMISES—and help our children remember them, too.
Please remember that these items are not required to celebrate the feasts, but they do make things feel a little more special.
Don’t let not having these stop you from celebrating! Start where you with what you have and that’s plenty enough for GOD!
May GOD Bless you!
