Stop The Itch Cream

I know we are almost to the middle of November and it seems like mosquito bites should be over with for a bit, but not here in Florida. This past weekend was the beginning of hunting season and I spent most of my time out in the woods.

I had forgotten to take along the bug spray but it was quite chilly so I didn’t buy any on the way either. That was a big mistake!

We found a game trail and decided to check it out. Not long down the trail I was attacked by mosquitoes and bitten several times near my right eye. Ughhh…. that really hurt. Not to mention it was quite ugly and itchy.

Southwestern Produce Company

Update:

We have been using this company for over 2 years now and we love them even more than we first did! This is a great way to stock up on healthy options and save money too!

This is a company I had recently heard about and really wanted to try. Well, this past weekend we did pick up our order of veggies and I will say that I am very pleased!

I’ve been really busy this year and we didn’t put out a garden so being able to get farm fresh produce was a real treat. It looks just as good as if I had gone to the work of growing it and putting it up myself. Best of all the freezer is pretty well stocked for the next couple of months and hopefully, we will have enough frozen veggies to supplement the fresh ones I find until we can place another order. Oven Roasted Green Beans

Well, now that I have all of these frozen green beans in my freezer I can start using them in many different ways. One of the ways we really like to eat them is oven-roasted… the little kids think of them as bean fries.

You can add in the parmesan and breadcrumbs if you like or leave it out if cheese is not your thing. You could also substitute bacon drippings for the olive oil and sprinkle them with some crumbled bacon to take these to another level.

If you buy or pick whole green beans they do make for a prettier presentation but we use a lot of frozen green beans as we get them at a really good price from Southwestern Produce.

Homeschool: Acorn Crafts

What a better way to celebrate the changing of the seasons than with some fun crafts? This week we are doing some different Fall themed crafts so I’ll try to take some pictures and post them so you can use them in your home as well. Most kids love art projects and my kids love ones that involve scissors and glue. (They love glitter too but I’m not that brave today…lol.)

This idea would really work for just about any shape you like for any season… just find or draw your shape and let the kids decorate with torn paper, paint, buttons, beads, or things they might find on a nature hunt. Just have fun with it!

Two Monks and an Olive Tree

I read this story some time ago and it was told over the radio station not long ago. I just thought I’d share it with you all as well.

Some time ago there were two monks who had planted young olive trees at about the same time. Continue reading “Two Monks and an Olive Tree”
