Sourdough Boule w/flavor variations and Pizza Crust options

I know we posted pictures of the mini bread loaves that we made for Christmas gifts and I might have mentioned that we used a similar recipe for pizza crust after my kiddos kept commenting on how much the bread dough made the kitchen smell like a pizzeria… we’ve been playing around with the recipes and finally have something we think is good enough to share.

This may not be the easiest recipe to make but it is well worth the effort and it gets easier the more times that you make it. Mr. Awesome has even said that this pizza dough is the best we’ve ever made and he really enjoys it… that says a lot coming from a former Pizza Hut fan!

I’ve also seen some Bagel recipes that are very similar to this bread recipe so I might try that one day… this may just be a one-dough-fits-all kind of situation that would simplify my life a lot right now! We generally use Mondays as our Meal Prep day but sometimes the only thing I actually get prepped is the bread dough for the week… it is so nice to be able to just pull a lump of dough out and have fresh bread whenever we want it or need it!

Just remember that everyone’s kitchen is different and your oven may be different than ours too as ours has not been acting very well lately but we have made these several times and these are the directions that we have been using. The printable recipe is at the bottom of the page.

Pizza Mac N Cheese

So you’ve probably seen the macaroni and cheese pizzas but my kids, more like my 5-year-old, wanted something different. This is what we came up with. Continue reading “Pizza Mac N Cheese”

Impossibly Easy Pizza Bake

My kids love pizza but with so many kids it can get rather expensive. This is a treat they like and it doesn’t cost me an arm or a leg to make. Add a salad to make it a filling meal.

Ingredients:

  • 3 1/3 c. Original Bisquick™ mix (from a 2 lb 8 oz box)
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 jar (14 oz) pizza sauce
  • 1 package (7 oz) sliced pepperoni
  • 2 c. shredded mozzarella cheese, or the pizza blend

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Spray 13×9-inch glass baking dish with cooking spray.

In a medium bowl, mix the Bisquick and milk until soft dough forms.

Drop half of the dough by spoonfuls evenly in the bottom of the baking dish (dough will not completely cover the bottom of the dish).

Drizzle about 1 cup pizza sauce over dough.

Arrange half of the pepperoni slices evenly over sauce.

Top with 1 cup of cheese.

Repeat layers with remaining dough, pizza sauce, pepperoni, and cheese.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown, biscuits in the center are cooked, and cheese in the center is bubbly.

Pepperoni pockets

This is our version of a hot pocket. These are fun and easy to make. The kids will gobble them up really quickly too. They can be made as a snack or pair with a salad to make a meal out of them. Continue reading “Pepperoni pockets”
