Livingroom Remodel… it looks so good!

In one of my last posts, I showed a quick peek of how our remodel was going and how one thing always leads to another. Well, it is finally finished and it is looking so good!

These were some of the ‘Before’ after we had just finished a major decluttering:

What have we done???

Hey ya’ll, we hope everyone had a great 4th!

When I last sat down to write I had shared some of the updates on the house and how we had been decluttering… it felt so good! We finally felt like we could relax and get comfy in our home but then we kept seeing all the little things that we needed to finish.

The Big Fork and Spoon Makeover

I’ve had these things for a couple of years now and I know I’ve posted about them before but I just now got around to actually getting the project done. I believe these belonged to Mr. Awesome’s granny at some point but I remember seeing similar ones during my childhood so I was happy to have them passed on to me.

I’ve really been struggling with the never ending list of things that need to get done and the projects that have been piling up. Some of them just have to wait until we have time/money to tackle them but I’ve been trying to knock out some smaller ones here and there.

Instead of focusing on the things that can’t be completed because of a lack of funds/supplies I tried to change my mindset to find things I could complete with what we have on hand already. God has blessed us so much and the least I can do is try to be grateful for all the things He has provided us with and be a good example for my kids. They are always looking for reasons not to do things so this was a perfect example of how we could use things we already had to tackle a project that needed completed.

It’s taken me about a month because I’ve only did a little bit here and there. The spoon needed some repairs as a big chunk was missing from the end and the stuff I tried the first time didn’t do the trick. I had to wait to find some wood filler to try again and the first try wasn’t great. I didn’t give up and the second try turned out better.

Weekend Warrior Project: A Little House Sleeping Loft

Wow! Where has time gone? I’ve been meaning to get around to this post but time has really gotten away from me lately. With school starting back at our home, those posts are soon to come as well, square dance classes starting up, and so many other things going on life has been a blur lately. However, we had some plans get canceled out on us this weekend so I have a little bit of time to get to my blogging.

I better get to work on telling you about what we did because its already late and I have been taking a screen-free break on Sundays. This project actually took us two weekends to complete and it has made such a BIG difference in our little house. It might not be practical for everyone but we are loving it and so are the kiddos!

As many of you know we moved into a small cabin last year. We went from about 2,000 square feet of living space (plus a huge storage shed) to a little over 600 square feet with practically no storage except for a small area that we had tarped off on the porch. We have arranged and rearranged furniture so many times and we were making this little housework but we really needed a little bit more living space. How we use these lesson plans:

Our school week is usually completed in 4 days. We use a Loop Schedule where we work for a designated amount of time on each subject before moving on to the next. After their work is completed for the day the kids are allowed to have independent studies were they can study whatever their little hearts desired.

Our 5th day is an optional day that we use to complete unfinished work or for other activities as we choose.
