Apple Crisp in a Crockpot

I love apple crisp. This recipe always takes me back to when I was young. Try this drizzled with some Homemade Caramel Sauce for an extra special treat.

Ingredients:

Apple filling:

  • 1 c.  brown sugar
  • 1/2 c.  sugar
  • 5 large apples, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 1 t. cinnamon

Crumb Topping:

  • 2/3 c. oats
  • 2/3 c. brown sugar, loosely packed
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 t. cinnamon
  • 3-4 T. butter, softened
  • 1 t. vanilla

Directions:

Mix together the apple filling ingredients. Spread onto the bottom of the slow cooker.

Mix together the crumb topping ingredients until blended. Sprinkle over top of the apples.

Cover and cook on low for 4 hours, or high for 2 hours.

Turn off the crockpot and let sit, covered, for one hour so the caramel can thicken.

Enjoy as it is or with some vanilla ice cream.
