If you’ve been around here for a bit, then you probably know that we have been on a journey to learn more about the Biblical Feasts. Well, Sukkot/The Feast of the Tabernacles is almost upon us, and I decided that being prepared makes it more likely that I can follow through with the intentions of celebrating this year. Definitely ask for help from your family if this time seems overwhelming, as Sukkot embodies the theme of unity, and we all need to come together as one to make this a special time of the year.
We will be trying to incorporate some of the garden harvest into our menus during this time, as this is a type of ‘Harvest Festival’ and we plan to eat by candlelight whenever possible. Please note that I am not an expert, and most of these ideas are just ideas that I have, and I can not say that they are traditional or ‘allowed’ for a traditional Jewish celebration.
The Challah bread is usually round by tradition. Wine is normally served with meals as well, although we will probably opt for sparkling wine, apple cider, or juice.
You can change whatever recipes you need to make this work for you… you can even buy premade foods and make this work. The idea is to celebrate your BLESSINGS and show THANKFULNESS to GOD.

Beforehand, you can research about the Water Libation ceremony and decide if this is something you’d like to do. After dinner, you may choose to have a child draw a pitcher of water and pour it on the ground while everyone watches.
Read:
“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”
With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.” (Isaiah 12:2-3)
Read Scripture and/or say a prayer of Thankfulness after the meal. Try starting the prayer by thanking God for his blessings, and go around the table and ask everyone to say one thing they are thankful for.

You may also choose to have a prayer shawl blessing over the children too. You can use a white sheet or tablecloth in place of a prayer shawl.

I am printing this out as one-sided documents so that I can add in notes on the front/back of the pages, as needed. I will probably file the daily notes with the daily menu plans as well and keep this for future reference in my Holiday Planner.
I hope this inspires you to celebrate this Biblical Feast… remember these are just ideas and you can change things to work for you. Are there any suggestions you would make? If so, please let us know in the comments.
God Bless!
