Recipes of the Month: January 2026

I will try to post a few recipes that should be fairly budget-friendly and easy to make for anyone wanting to learn to make things from scratch.

I wasn’t sure what recipe to start with, but since January 4th is National Spaghetti Day, I figure that would be a good one to start with.

Special Holiday Meals: January Edition

Spaghetti is a pretty simple meal to make, and I have a couple of recipes that you could try. There is nothing wrong with boxed noodles and canned sauce, but these don’t need a lot of skill and can turn an ordinary meal into something special… even making a few additions like some browned meat to canned sauce can make it so much better.

With Valentine’s Day coming up next month, you might want to try out a couple of recipes so you can make a memorable meal for your special someone 😉

The first spaghetti recipe I learned to cook was Creole Spaghetti… it is so good, and I made it so many times when I was first learning to meal plan, but we never got tired of it. My family currently loves spaghetti noodles or spaghetti squash topped with  Mama’s Secret Spaghetti Sauce. Any leftover sauce can also be used to make homemade pizzas!

You’ll probably want a nice, easy side to go with your delicious spaghetti, so I usually opt for a simple salad with our homemade ranch dressing, but if you want something a little more special, you may want to try the Strawberry Spinach Salad. Another nice option would be some green beans.

Bread is always a must when we have spaghetti… something about some buttered bread just makes it so much better! Sometimes we go for a simple slice of buttered bread, but you may want to try your hand at some easy Garlic Toast, Cheesy Garlic Skillet Biscuits, Quick & Easy Garlic Bread or Garlic Cheesy Bread, or Cheesy Garlic Pull-apart Bread.

For dessert, you could try some Blonde Brownies, No Bake Cheesecake, or a Peanut Butter Pie in a Chocolate Crust… yum!

Don’t be afraid to give these a try… you might just be amazed at what you can make.

Be sure to print out a grocery list so you can make sure to get everything you might need!

God Bless!
