No-Bake Cheesecake with Flavor Variations

I love cheesecake and so does my second eldest son… so much that he insists on having cheesecake for his birthday and any other special occasion. I do have a recipe for a traditional cheesecake but I can’t seem to find it at the moment as it may be packed away.

This recipe is simple and tastes great! You can play with the ingredients to make your own flavors as well as trying different variations on the crust until you find your ‘perfect’ combination.

No-Bake Oatmeal Cookies

This is probably one of the most made cookie recipes in our home as both of my older girls learned how to make these when they were young and they quickly became experts!

These also go by other names such as Preacher Cookies, Beaver Dams, Haystacks, Mud Pies, and Cocoa Quickies but no matter what you call them they are delicious!

Homemade Pedialyte and the BRAT/BOAT Diet

I hate it when my kids get sick and I really hate it when they can’t keep anything down. When the nasty stomach bugs hit our home we try to have a supply of ginger ale and foods for the BRAT/BOAT diet on hand. Sometimes though I find myself unprepared and I need to whip up a batch of this Homemade Pedialyte for the kiddos.

They also like to sip on some homemade bone broth when I have some ready. (aff link)

BRAT/BOAT Diet:

Bananas

Oatmeal/Rice

Applesauce

Toast (crackers count as well)

This helps a lot when I have kids who have been throwing up and/or may have diarrhea.

Special Holiday Meals: Our 2019 Thanksgiving Dinner Menu with recipe links!

Well, it’s about that time of year when families far and near will be gathering around the table to enjoy each other’s company over a delicious meal. This year will be a little bittersweet for me as I know that I will be missing at least two of my kiddos plus their spouses for dinner… sniff, sniff. I do know that they are growing up and their lives are taking them other places so I am so very proud of them but I’m really gonna miss them… in fact, I already miss them and they aren’t even gone yet!

We will be having our dinner this year and we will have plenty of family favorites to enjoy. I was really HOPING and PRAYING that we would be having it in our new home but that doesn’t seem like it will happen this year… sigh. I am so THANKFUL that we are getting a new home though and I’m really trying to be as patient as I can be and PRAYING that NOTHING else comes up… the survey crew did come out so hopefully, we will be back on track soon! Oven-Fried Mushrooms

Here’s something that you may not have known about me… I grew up in the mushroom capital of the world! Yep, I did. For a long time, I only associated mushrooms with a REALLY BAD SMELL because we lived right next door to a mushroom company and boy does it stink when they clean out the mushroom houses.

Luckily I have grown to love them and I know that they are really good for us as they are full of VITAMIN D! I did chuckle when I read about ‘sunning’ my mushrooms in my Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook. This recipe as it is would not be THM approved but I may try to make some adjustments to it in the future.

This is a recipe that I’ve had for a LONG time and I love these things! I could probably eat all of them in one sitting if no one else wanted any but I do try to have a little self-control so that others can share in their deliciousness.  Continue reading “Oven-Fried Mushrooms”
