A Completely Honest Review Of Our First Hello Fresh Box!

We were so very excited to try out Hello Fresh. If you haven’t heard of them they offer a subscription plan where you choose your plan and your meals. They will deliver the meals, fresh from the farm to your home, and they provide a tracking service so you will know when to expect the package. You even have the option to skip a week or two, if needed.

You will need the basic kitchen utensils plus a few things like, butter, olive oil, salt and pepper, and sugar. Other than those ingredients they pretty much provide everything right in the cute little bags they deliver.

The first meal I made was the Lobster Ravioli with Chorizo in a Sherry Cream Sauce with Honey-Roasted Carrots, which was a Premium meal. Seems so fancy, doesn’t it? Continue reading “A Completely Honest Review Of Our First Hello Fresh Box!”

So this week has been really good. We’ve made a lot of progress as far as finally getting the house organized and getting our routines simplified. I feel like I can finally breathe. It has never taken me so long to get unpacked and organized after a move before. Just a word of caution to anyone trying to downsize…. it’s probably gonna be a lot harder than what you think!

We have had quite an exciting week that has been packed full of all kinds of planned and unplanned surprises. Keep reading for a brief summary of what we’ve been up to. Continue reading “Weekend Wrap Up: June 9, 2018”

30+ Days of Quick and Easy Back To School Breakfast Ideas

I know we aren’t quite ready for back to school yet but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be thinking about it. It will sneak up on us quickly and I’m the type of person who likes to have a plan. We have somewhat lazy/laid back mornings here since we homeschool but I remember how crazy and chaotic school mornings could be.

I learned really quickly that we needed a breakfast plan so I’ll share our simple ideas with you. I asked my older kids at the time what their favorite breakfasts were and started from there. Anything hard was put on the schedule for the weekends and the easy stuff was rotated through the weekdays. Maybe these can help make your back to school mornings a little bit less stressful. Strawberry Pudding Poke Cake

I haven’t made this in a while and although I was pretty sure of the ingredients I dug the recipe out of my old recipe box. Nothing says summer like this fresh cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream!

This is so much better than strawberry shortcake in my opinion. I would love to have this set of bowls to serve it in. This is always a hit when I take it to get-togethers.

You can see this post HERE about the last time the kids help make this dessert. Continue reading “Strawberry Pudding Poke Cake”

Momma’s Blackberry Cobbler

I was in a baking kinda mood on the 4th of July and decided to make a couple of different desserts. This was one of them as it is so easy to make. I hadn’t made one in a while so I had forgotten how good they make the house smell too.

I mixed the berries up and let them sit about 30 minutes or so to blend well. I used that time to make up a Lemon Meringue Pie and a Nanny’s No Bake Coconut Cream Pie. All three of these were super easy to make and so good to eat.  Continue reading “Momma’s Blackberry Cobbler”
