Southern Buttermilk Pie

I have no idea where I came across the original recipe. I have changed a few things around since I first found it though. This is something I make when I have buttermilk leftover from another recipe.

I use one 9-inch deep-dish but you could probably use 2 smaller pie pans but the pies would be a bit thinner. Continue reading “Southern Buttermilk Pie”

Loaded Potato Soup

Looking for the perfect potato soup recipe? Look no further as you’ve found it!

I love soup, especially on a cold day, but we haven’t had many cold days here lately. Please don’t take that as a complaint because I’m not complaining in the least bit. I make this soup once or twice a year and everyone always loves it.

This recipe could probably be adapted to a crockpot but I have not attempted that yet. I will update the post if I do though. Mr Awesome often says he doesn’t get enough taters in his soup so I’ve started using a 5 pound bag of yellow potatoes each time I make this.

Biscuits ‘N Gravy

I think this is one of my favorite meals. I remember learning how to make this on a wood cookstove!

Use your favorite biscuit recipe or buy some of the ‘whack ’em on the counter’ biscuits. I have used the Emergency Rolls, 7 Up Biscuits, toast, and even the 30 minute Rolls for this meal. Continue reading “Biscuits ‘N Gravy”

I don’t know about everyone else but keeping up with 6 kids and their school work can be stressful at times. They are on different levels ranging from Pre-K to High School and sometimes I just get confused as to who is where and what needs to be finished. I wanted to keep up with our school work and grades for my own records and I needed a system. The scholarship that my 14 year old has also required a portfolio to be kept and I had no idea where to start.

100th day of school

This will fall in February for us this year. I don’t think we’ve ever had any kind of celebration or anything before but this year I will try to make it a little extra special and maybe it will help to keep us motivated.

Below is a list of activities I have found to help celebrate this special day. Continue reading “100th day of school”
