Getting organized a little at a time … January 5, 2023

So it’s been a busy time here and I’ve been very slow about getting things undecorated but we don’t usually take our tree down until after the 6th anyway so that’s ok. I’m sure the neighbors will be glad when we pick up our poor inflatables out of the yard though.

I haven’t really set any goals per se but I would like to get our house more organized. I had high hopes of getting it right last year but 2022 turned out to be pretty crazy and life had other plans for us.

We had lots of catching up to do from 2021 and lots of checkups but Shyanne’s one year post-chemo checkup went well and everything looks good. This means we don’t have to go to monthly oncology checkups now… they will be every two months now.

Black Friday Sale Starts Today!

I haven’t been talking a lot about our Norwex lately but I can tell you that we are even more in love with these products than we were when we first got them.

We’ve been using the cloths and water to clean the majority of our house and we are loving how easy it is not too mention all the money we’re saving because we aren’t buying so many cleaners. This idea came to me many years ago after I had been thrown up on numerous times... I really couldn't even begin to guess how many times I've been puked on. The kids would run to the trash can if they couldn't make it to the bathroom so I thought, 'Why not get a trash can that they can carry with them?'. Pretty genius, huh? There is no way to tell you just how many times these simple buckets have saved the day. They keep our house running fairly smoothly when the flu season hits as I don't have to stop numerous times throughout the day to clean up vomit... yuck! I even keep one handy for myself as I start gagging when I hear someone else puking.

Mommas, I know how things can get when you let the kids help out in the kitchen. They get underfoot and you have to repeat things over and over again and again. In fact, many times things seem to go faster when you don't let them help but trust me, you want them to help just as much as they want to help. In the long run, it will be beneficial to everyone if you can get them in the kitchen as soon as possible!

Swedish Death Cleaning At The Cabin

Whoa!…. That title sounds kinda scary, doesn’t it? Well, it shouldn’t as the Swedish concept of döstädning, “death cleaning”, or “one last sweep”, is actually something that can be quite wonderful. I know from some of my past experiences with decluttering that getting rid of stuff can make you feel so much better. You can even invite your friends and family to help and use this as a bonding experience.

Last summer we did a big decluttering session here and the house felt so much better afterward. Well, that feeling has since worn off as we’ve had Christmas and birthdays which brought in more clutter as well as the fact that other clutter has found its way in the house as well.
