A Completely Honest Review Of Our First Hello Fresh Box!

We were so very excited to try out Hello Fresh. If you haven’t heard of them they offer a subscription plan where you choose your plan and your meals. They will deliver the meals, fresh from the farm to your home, and they provide a tracking service so you will know when to expect the package. You even have the option to skip a week or two, if needed.

You will need the basic kitchen utensils plus a few things like, butter, olive oil, salt and pepper, and sugar. Other than those ingredients they pretty much provide everything right in the cute little bags they deliver.

The first meal I made was the Lobster Ravioli with Chorizo in a Sherry Cream Sauce with Honey-Roasted Carrots, which was a Premium meal. Seems so fancy, doesn’t it? Continue reading “A Completely Honest Review Of Our First Hello Fresh Box!” →

30+ Days of Quick and Easy Back To School Breakfast Ideas

I know we aren’t quite ready for back to school yet but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be thinking about it. It will sneak up on us quickly and I’m the type of person who likes to have a plan. We have somewhat lazy/laid back mornings here since we homeschool but I remember how crazy and chaotic school mornings could be.

I learned really quickly that we needed a breakfast plan so I’ll share our simple ideas with you. I asked my older kids at the time what their favorite breakfasts were and started from there. Anything hard was put on the schedule for the weekends and the easy stuff was rotated through the weekdays. Maybe these can help make your back to school mornings a little bit less stressful. Cheesy Garlic Skillet Biscuits

Mmmmm…. these were so good. The idea for these came about as I had forgotten to take the rolls out for my Cheesy Garlic Pull-apart Bread to go with dinner. We’d had a very busy day dealing with ants.

I happened to have some canned biscuits (and mozzarella cheese sticks) in the fridge from the weekend. I had planned to use the biscuits for Monkey Bread on Saturday but as that is one of William’s favorite breakfasts and he wouldn’t have been able to eat it I chose not to make it.

This is also a great recipe to let the kids help with as they can cut the cheese sticks and wrap the biscuits around the cheese. Continue reading “Cheesy Garlic Skillet Biscuits” →

Quick and Easy Burrito Casserole

This is a recipe that I’ve had for a while and I’ve tweaked it a bit here and there to get it to our liking. I’ve actually had it on the menu plan for the past couple of weeks but haven’t been able to make it as we’ve just had some hectic schedules here lately.

You can call the kids in to help with this one. My littles like to tear up the tortillas and sprinkle on the cheese while the girls like helping to stir the meat and bean mixture and spread the sour cream. You can also let them help make a salad to go along with this yummy dish! Continue reading “Quick and Easy Burrito Casserole” →

Reserve Your Spot!

Hey there,

I hear the virtual seats are filling up for the live online event about raising healthy eaters with Katie Kimball of the Kids Cook Real Food eCourse!

She’s a former elementary teacher and mom of 4 who knows her way around healthy food and has the neatest ways to explain basic skills to kids. She is sharing her secrets with us this month, the same ones that have helped over 6,000 families eat healthier food — and I wanted to make sure you saw the opportunity!

I’ll be soaking it all in too because no matter how much time I spend with my kids, there’s always something more to learn (or something I’ve forgotten in my poor full brain)! Hope to see you in the chat!

Even if you can’t make it live, I’d totally sign up because you can get the replay. (Efficiency at its finest – watch it at 1.5 speed! Ha!)

One big reason to come live: you get access to her full-length knife skills class for ALL ages 2-teen. It’s changed the way some families do dinner in just 10 minutes!

I am so determined that my kids know how to cook – the real stuff, not just boxes – so that they’re independent and healthy adults (and, truth be told, to get a little help in the next 5-10 years around the house too!).
