Biblical Feasts: Feast of the Unleavened Bread (& First Fruits)Menu & Activities

If you’ve been around here for a bit, then you probably know that we have been on a journey to learn more about the Biblical Feasts. Well, the Feast of the Unleavened Bread and First Fruits are almost upon us, and I decided that being prepared makes it more likely that I can follow through with the intentions of celebrating this year.

We will be trying to incorporate some of the traditional foods into our menus during this time, and we plan to eat by candlelight whenever possible. Please note that I am not an expert, and most of these ideas are just ideas that I have, and I can not say that they are traditional or ‘allowed’ for a traditional Jewish celebration.

Wine or grape juice is normally served with meals as well, although we will probably opt for sparkling wine, apple cider, or juice.

You can change whatever recipes you need to make this work for you… you can even buy premade foods and make this work. The idea is to celebrate your BLESSINGS and show THANKFULNESS to GOD.

Feast of the Unleavened Bread/First Fruits Menu & Activities

We will be having a lot of dishes with eggs and unleavened bread. We may also include lots of relish trays with olives, pickled beets, and such with dinner and lunches.

Here is the menu that we have come up with:

1st Day

Breakfast

Shakshuka, fruits

Lunch

Cold Plate Lunch w/unleavened bread

Dinner

Baked Salmon or Mississippi Pot Roast w/rice – We’ve been making this with smoked lamb and it is so good!

Lentils, Rice, Salad, Seasonal Veggies w/Dip

Stuffed Mushrooms w/Dipping Sauce – can be prepared ahead and heated before serving

unleavened bread

Dessert

Chocolate Covered Eggs (updated with more flavors!) These can be shaped into anything.

SNACKS:

Fresh fruits and veggies

Beverages:

Sweet TeaLemonadeApple Cider

Notes:

You may choose to read Scripture during breakfast, or you may also choose to do a special Bible Study during this time.

Light your candles and say a prayer before sitting down to eat.

When the First Fruits start, you will begin counting the Omer… dinner time might be a good time to do this together. You can find a lot of neat crafts online, but I’m thinking we may do it similar to an ‘Advent Calendar’ or paper chain with daily verses from Psalms written for every day.

I am printing this out as one-sided documents so that I can add in notes on the front/back of the pages, as needed. I will probably file the daily notes with the daily menu plans as well and keep this for future reference in my Holiday Planner.

I hope this inspires you to celebrate this Biblical Feast… remember these are just ideas and you can change things to work for you. Are there any suggestions you would make? If so, please let us know in the comments.

God Bless!
