More Victory Garden Resources

For Valentine’s Day/my birthday, I received some potted Tulips and a couple of small lemon trees which I am excited to find a place for. The kids have also been excited as they know this means that we will make a new garden space where there is nothing at present… we all love a good makeover! I’m sure you may have already seen some glimpses of this space before this post comes out as I’ve been writing a little ahead but that’s ok 🙂

I know that my kiddos have been excited to learn more about Victory Gardens so we are constantly reading more and more articles about them as we work on planning out our garden. We seriously need to get out this weekend to get some plants started as the chickens got into the garden beds a decimated everything that was growing… I do need to check and see if there might have been some root crops that were spared.

I wasn’t always as fond of gardening as I am now. There was a time in my childhood that I dreaded the ‘G’ word and it meant a lot of hard work. We depended on the garden for our sustenance and we all needed to do our share of the planting, weeding, and storing so that we would have plenty of food to get us through the winter.

Starting Our Sabbath

So I’ve been talking about the Biblical Feasts and the Sabbath but have I actually been trying to put these things into action?

Yes, we have. We don’t have a perfect routine yet but we are trying to make an intentional effort to include the Sabbath into our weeks as well as making plans to include the Biblical Feasts into our yearly plans… even though we aren’t quite sure how that will look yet.

As far as the Sabbath goes, we have been doing it on Sundays. I know there is a lot of debate about Saturday or Sunday but for now, Sunday is what works for us. I also know that the Sabbath should begin at sundown the day before but we didn’t do that either although I may try to start that.

Successful days start with successful mornings

I’m trying so hard to get ahead of the chaos that having a large family brings but I also know that there will be days. Days when NOTHING seems to go right, days when EVERYONE seems to get up on the WRONG side of the bed, days when NOBODY wants to listen or behave … the list could go on but I think we all get the idea.

One thing I’ve been trying hard to do is to get up a little early. I did this before and somehow fell out of the habit yet again but this is one habit that I am really trying to bring back. This starts by making sure that I get to bed at a decent time. This also means that I’ve really been trying to make sure that little Miss sleeps in her own little bed instead of wallowing all over me and Daddy in our bed.

Oily Chat – February

I haven’t really talked a lot about essential oils lately but they are still a big part of our lives. I had gotten away from the boxes that I used to receive from Simply Earth but I have signed up again as the quality of the oils I’ve been getting from other places just isn’t as good.

I love lemongrass and lavender but Mr. Awesome prefers the grapefruit and other citrus scents.
