Victory Gardening for a Homeschooling Win

I have written a little about Victory Gardens in past posts but recently I went so far as to incorporate them into our homeschool curriculum!

We used the booklet found HERE to calculate how much food we would need as individuals and for the family as a whole. Then we calculated how many rows of each vegetable we would need to supply those needs.

Using those numbers we were then able to calculate how much space we would need for a Victory Garden that would supply us with the majority of the fruits and veggies that we would need to give us an adequate amount of nutrition. This was a little more complicated than we originally expected and it took us several days to calculate the number of beds and rows that we would need.

Guacamole

This recipe is so easy I didn’t even have it written out… I only had a list on my phone of the items I needed, no measurements or anything but I figured I should probably jot it down just in case my memory fails me or my phone gets dropped in the toilet. This is a must-have for taco nights!

Perpetual Meal Plan – Spring 2024

I’ve been working a little too hard on getting these meal plans ready but the effort has definitely paid off. I won’t go into a lot of detail but this is the same format as the Winter Plan but with a few different recipes to change things up. These are all things that have been helping to keep our home running a little more smoothly through all the stuff we’ve been doing around here between house remodeling projects, taking care of animals, adding on to our garden, and just LIFE.

Successful days start with successful mornings

I’m trying so hard to get ahead of the chaos that having a large family brings but I also know that there will be days. Days when NOTHING seems to go right, days when EVERYONE seems to get up on the WRONG side of the bed, days when NOBODY wants to listen or behave … the list could go on but I think we all get the idea.

One thing I’ve been trying hard to do is to get up a little early. I did this before and somehow fell out of the habit yet again but this is one habit that I am really trying to bring back. This starts by making sure that I get to bed at a decent time. This also means that I’ve really been trying to make sure that little Miss sleeps in her own little bed instead of wallowing all over me and Daddy in our bed.
