Old-Fashioned Cornbread Dressing

I got asked for this recipe but I didn’t have it on the blog so I scrounged around my holiday binder to find it… just in time for Turkey Day! This is fairly similar to my Homemade Bread Stuffing except that it is made with cornbread… that is another recipe I’ll have to look for when I get everything unpacked! You can just make the recipe off the back of the bag and it will be fine!

Fun Fact:

What is the difference between stuffing and dressing?

Favorite Sweet Potato Casserole

This is probably my most requested recipe at holiday meals. I don’t know where I got the recipe but it has been around our home for quite some time now. If you don’t care for the topping you can always leave it off or substitute some marshmallows in its place.

Special Holiday Meals: Our 2019 Thanksgiving Dinner Menu with recipe links!

Well, it’s about that time of year when families far and near will be gathering around the table to enjoy each other’s company over a delicious meal. This year will be a little bittersweet for me as I know that I will be missing at least two of my kiddos plus their spouses for dinner… sniff, sniff. I do know that they are growing up and their lives are taking them other places so I am so very proud of them but I’m really gonna miss them… in fact, I already miss them and they aren’t even gone yet!

We will be having our dinner this year and we will have plenty of family favorites to enjoy. I was really HOPING and PRAYING that we would be having it in our new home but that doesn’t seem like it will happen this year… sigh. I am so THANKFUL that we are getting a new home though and I’m really trying to be as patient as I can be and PRAYING that NOTHING else comes up… the survey crew did come out so hopefully, we will be back on track soon! Momma’s Green Bean Casserole

I can’t believe I haven’t posted this recipe before now. I wouldn’t have realized it if my oldest daughter hadn’t asked for the recipe. I figured I might as well share it with everyone because things are getting a little hectic around here as we have packed up a few things as we prepare for our new home and who knows where this recipe might end up?

One of my fondest memories from when I was little was sitting on the back porch with my Mom-mom helping her with the beans and other goodies she had harvested from her garden.

As I got older I did this with my kids as well. I can still remember when we had a Doberman, named Mac, who loved green beans. The little stinker would run right up to the washtub and steal the beans every chance he got! Continue reading “Momma’s Green Bean Casserole”
