Crazy Delicious Low-Carb Substitutions You Can Make Today!

Are you trying to eat healthier but having a hard time finding recipes? Well, there is a secret that we use here and that is that we often try to use our favorite recipes but we make substitutions to make them a bit healthier.

The other issue is that a lot of the foods that are marketed as ‘Low-Carb’ and ‘Keto’ are full of mysterious ingredients and SUPER EXPENSIVE. If you are trying to eat healthier then they shouldn’t be charging you more to fill you with more JUNK! Remember that just because the label says it is HEALTHY doesn’t really mean it is!

Many of the substitutions we make are things that can be found easily in the produce section or canned food aisle of any store or we can even grow a number of them in our gardens… that sounds better to me. If you can’t have your own garden then you can still shop for seasonal veggies to make substitutions with and you will save a bit of money… maybe you can even check out the local farmer’s market for fresher veggies?

Put your Meal Planning on Auto-Pilot with the Perpetual Meal Plan for Winter – FREE Printables! (Updated)

Yay! I did it… my first big project of the year. I actually finished the Meal Plan that I’ve been working on and I wanted to share it with you. I know it’s not perfect and I’m sure there will be some changes made to it but it’s a place to start and I’m happy with that. These were inspired by The Dinner Calendar written by Fannie Merritt Farmer in 1915 but they have some modern recipes, most of which can be found on the blog. I love that I can pull/print recipes one time and be able to use them again and again over the next few months! The kids are also working on a list of muffins, oatmeal, quick bread, cookie, and dessert recipes as an add-on to this meal plan.

Why plan for the week or month when you could plan for the years to come all at one time? We have been using this for a week or so now and it has helped tremendously! I’ve also been able to simplify my Cozi calendar by using this meal planner… so nice!

Simplify Your Life: Step 1 Take Care Of Yourself

**This post may contain affiliate links which help to support our blog and our family.

This post is part of a multi-section post in honor of National Simplify Your Life week which is the first week of August. The original post wasn’t as short and simple as I had wanted it to be so I decided to break it down into a few shorter posts.

1. Take Care of Yourself

I think one of the most popular New Year’s goals is to take better care of ourselves whether it is by exercising more or eating healthier. This is a great goal and a good way to help us simplify our lives.

Our bodies need healthy foods and movement to thrive. So eat well and find ways to make exercise a regular part of your life. A healthy body most often means a healthy mind as well.

We can do this one by:

  • Taking the time to eat slowly
  • Choosing healthier options
  • Getting regular exercise
  • Keeping healthy snacks around

We also need to take some time for ourselves to relax and unwind. Spending time with friends and family can help our emotional and social well being too.

As a busy Momma I know how hard this can be sometimes. You can check out this book, for a 21 day challenge to help you simplify your life and take better care of yourself.

Be sure to check out the other post in this series for more simple ways to simplify your life.
