Susie Q’s Simple Cheese Sauce

This sauce is so simple to make and can turn a good meal into an extraordinary one with just a few simple ingredients. You can put this on almost anything from meat, veggies, and pasta for a creative dish. Once you see how easy this is you won’t want to go back to store-bought cheese sauce!

This is one of those recipes that I just have in head and I don’t normally measure so I tried my best to estimate the amounts. I’ll really try to remember and measure the next time I make it so I can adjust the recipe accordingly. Continue reading “Susie Q’s Simple Cheese Sauce”

Momma’s Hushpuppies

These are one of Mr. Awesome’s absolute favorite things to eat when we have a seafood night. They are so much better than store-bought mix brand and you can make them to your liking. I couldn’t find my recipe box the other day so I just whipped up a batch of the storebought kind and Mr. Awesome knew right away that something was different.

I got this recipe a long time ago when I was working at a small restaurant. The cook was such a sweet old lady and she shared quite a few ‘secrets’ with me that have helped me over the years. I have since added a few touches to this recipe which have helped to make this a family favorite! Continue reading “Momma’s Hushpuppies”

Nanny’s Fish Fry Breading

This fish fry breading can be used on just about any kind of seafood. We normally use it on white fish like tilapia and flounder, shrimp, scallops, oysters, and even recently on some calamari which turned out quite well. Continue reading “Nanny’s Fish Fry Breading”

Momma’s Green Bean Casserole

I can’t believe I haven’t posted this recipe before now. I wouldn’t have realized it if my oldest daughter hadn’t asked for the recipe. I figured I might as well share it with everyone because things are getting a little hectic around here as we have packed up a few things as we prepare for our new home and who knows where this recipe might end up?

One of my fondest memories from when I was little was sitting on the back porch with my Mom-mom helping her with the beans and other goodies she had harvested from her garden.

As I got older I did this with my kids as well. I can still remember when we had a Doberman, named Mac, who loved green beans. The little stinker would run right up to the washtub and steal the beans every chance he got! Continue reading “Momma’s Green Bean Casserole”
