Spring Cleaning With Easy DIY Cleaners

It’s that time of year when the urge to clean and declutter often hits me… it has hit me, but I’ve been too sick to really do anything about it right yet.

Over the past several years, I have been replacing a lot of the store bought cleaners with ‘cleaner’ versions that we can make here at home.

Most of our DIY cleaners involve vinegar and/or rubbing alcohol. On occasion, I do purchase some cleaner concentrates from Amazon that we dilute for all purpose cleaners around the house. I will link those at the bottom of the post.

Home Remedies, Homemade Cleaners, and Miscellaneous Tips and Stuff

We really like to make citrus vinegar to use in our DIY cleaners, as it smells AMAZING! We have found that it can also help to repel flies and other insects. Check out some easy recipes below:

Crockpot Applesauce

I don’t post a lot of ‘canning’ recipes on here because most of what I know about canning is in my head. I just do things the way I saw them done when I was young and I can’t really guarantee the accuracy of all of them.

This recipe here is a good one for canning and giving out as gifts though. It never seems to stick around that long here though because my kids LOVE applesauce and I love that I know exactly what’s in it. This recipe can also be used for the Crockpot Apple Butter! If you decide to use this for Apple Butter you may want to omit the sugar and seasonings.

Canned Pumpkin

I don’t post a lot of ‘canning’ recipes on here because most of what I know about canning is in my head. I just do things the way I saw them done when I was young and I can’t really guarantee the accuracy of all of them.

This works well for anything that calls for store-bought canned pumpkin. We love using it in our Luscious Four-Layer Pumpkin Cake. I haven’t tried using anything other than sugar to sweeten this with but I think it would probably be ok to give it a go. This also freezes well if you don’t want to can it.

Pine Tree or Palmetto Bug?

When I first tried Grove products I was on a mission to try to use healthier products in our home. I believe one of the first scents I tried was the Iowa Pine… I was in love! It reminded me of fresh cut pine trees in the mountains. It had been a while since I had ordered this scent and I decided to try it out again because I loved it so much.
