Recipes of the Month: March 2026

I will try to post a few recipes that should be fairly budget-friendly and easy to make for anyone wanting to learn to make things from scratch. This month is the start of a new menu for us and it is exciting to bring in new flavors and colors as nature is doing the same.

This month is full of special holidays, but I thought I’d start with National Pi Day on March 14th. We usually go with Pizzas on this day. For sides, we will have breadsticks and/or salad. Here are a few of our favorite pizza recipes:

For dessert, we will make some sort of pie:

Special Holiday Meals: Pizza Day Recipe Roundup

There are at least 10 different holidays associated with Pizza Day, so I thought I’d gather my pizza recipes into one post to make them easier to find! These can also work on Pie Days!

You can also find recipes for fruit pizza, which has a graham cracker crust, cream cheese ‘sauce’, fresh fruit slices, and then a simple glaze drizzled over… so yummy! I can’t find my recipe, but I do try to make this from time to time.

Sourdough Boule w/flavor variations and Pizza Crust options

I know we posted pictures of the mini bread loaves that we made for Christmas gifts and I might have mentioned that we used a similar recipe for pizza crust after my kiddos kept commenting on how much the bread dough made the kitchen smell like a pizzeria… we’ve been playing around with the recipes and finally have something we think is good enough to share.

This may not be the easiest recipe to make but it is well worth the effort and it gets easier the more times that you make it. Mr. Awesome has even said that this pizza dough is the best we’ve ever made and he really enjoys it… that says a lot coming from a former Pizza Hut fan!

I’ve also seen some Bagel recipes that are very similar to this bread recipe so I might try that one day… this may just be a one-dough-fits-all kind of situation that would simplify my life a lot right now! We generally use Mondays as our Meal Prep day but sometimes the only thing I actually get prepped is the bread dough for the week… it is so nice to be able to just pull a lump of dough out and have fresh bread whenever we want it or need it!

Just remember that everyone’s kitchen is different and your oven may be different than ours too as ours has not been acting very well lately but we have made these several times and these are the directions that we have been using. The printable recipe is at the bottom of the page.

If you want a recipe for more of a sandwich-type bread then try our Easy Homemade Bread recipe.

Easy Pepperoni & Pasta Casserole

This recipe is so easy but I forgot that I even had it! The original recipe calls for Rotell past (little wheels) but you can use just about any pasta that you might have on hand.

Mrs. B’s Good Easy Pizza

This is a recipe I’ve had since my high school home economics class. It was always a hit with my younger brothers and sisters as pizza was a rare treat for us when we were growing up and being able to make it at home was a blessing!

Homemade pizzas are always so much fun because everyone can make their pizza the way they like it… yay! If you don’t care for the tomato sauce you could probably give this a try with some Easy Alfredo Sauce. My kids like to eat their pizza with some homemade ranch dressing.
