Just a quick garden update…

We’ve been super busy and I haven’t had a chance to check in but all is well here.

We’ve been working super hard in our gardens and yard and the work is paying off as we’ve been eating quite a bit of fresh fruits and veggies that we’ve grown.

Here are a few pics that we’ve taken recently… maybe more than a few but we like sharing progress!

Sabbath Day Resources

On our journey to learning more about the Biblical Feasts and Holy Days we can’t help but take some time to focus on the Sabbath Day. Many of us have heard of this one but some of us, myself included, haven’t ever really thought about how it should be observed. Well, let me tell you that I’ve been learning a lot and I’m trying to incorporate what I’ve learned into our lives but it has proven to be a bit more difficult than it should be.

The Sabbath is probably the hardest of all the 10 commandments to keep… I had never thought about it until lately but it’s true for most of us. God created the Sabbath day as a day of rest and too often we just look at it as a ‘day off’ or a ‘free day’ from our regular work but we will use it to ‘catch-up’ on projects that we need to get done… I’m so guilty of this!

Mark 2:27-28KJV

27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

Starting Our Sabbath

So I’ve been talking about the Biblical Feasts and the Sabbath but have I actually been trying to put these things into action?

Yes, we have. We don’t have a perfect routine yet but we are trying to make an intentional effort to include the Sabbath into our weeks as well as making plans to include the Biblical Feasts into our yearly plans… even though we aren’t quite sure how that will look yet.

As far as the Sabbath goes, we have been doing it on Sundays. I know there is a lot of debate about Saturday or Sunday but for now, Sunday is what works for us. I also know that the Sabbath should begin at sundown the day before but we didn’t do that either although I may try to start that.

What Kind of Rest Do You Need?

I know as a busy Momma there are many days when I am exhausted and running on fumes, thinking all I needed was a nap. However, I recently found this quiz and was surprised at the results.

As it turns out there are 7 different kinds of rest that we need as individuals and our needs change frequently:

Physical: The chance to use the body in restorative ways to decrease muscle tension, reduce headaches, and promote higher quality sleep.
Mental: The ability to quiet cerebral chatter and focus on things that matter.
Spiritual: The capacity to experience God in all things and recline in the knowledge of the Holy.
Emotional: The freedom to authentically express feelings and eliminate people-pleasing behaviors.
Social: The wisdom to recognize relationships which revive from ones that exhaust and how to limit exposure to toxic people.
Sensory: The opportunity to downgrade the endless onslaught of sensory input received from electronics, fragrances, and background noise.
Creative: The experience of allowing beauty to inspire awe and liberate wonder.

I know I am tired and I know I’ve been a bit moody lately but my results shocked me at just how tired I am.

My results

[Below are your personal rest deficit assessment results. Use these results to help you see which types of rest you already excel at and which ones you need to focus on improving.
How To Interpret Your Results:
Based on your input, the type of rest with the highest score is the one you should focus on. It is the primary type of rest you are missing in your life.

If you score 0-15: You are getting adequate rest in this area
If you score 16-25: You are experiencing rest in this area but would thrive with more.
If you score 26-35: You are feeling the effects of your lack of rest and need a change.
If you score >35: Your life is negatively affected by your lack of rest in this area.

Category Scores
Physical Rest Score: 30
Mental Rest Score: 23
Emotional Rest Score: 18
Spiritual Rest Score: 10
Social Rest Score: 15
Sensory Rest Score: 16
Creative Rest Score: 23]

It seems that the only areas where I am getting enough rest in are my spiritual and sensory so I guess maybe the few minutes of ‘quiet time’ I get in the mornings are paying.

My highest need seems to be for physical rest which was really a no-brainer because I know I don’t get to rest as much as I should.

At least now I know what areas to work on so that maybe I can feel a lot better in the upcoming days… being a Momma truly is hard work!

Take the REST QUIZ now to find the rest you need!

What areas are you lacking in? Take the quiz and let me know in the comments!

March 21, 2017

Good morning everyone! We are up and somewhat ‘at it’ this morning. I was so lazy yesterday! I did the basics like feeding the kids and washing up the dishes but not much else. I did finish up a load of laundry last night because it was sitting on my bed but the clothes are still sitting in a basket waiting to be put away.

Yesterday was just one of those ‘off days’ for me. I had been pushing myself a lot the past couple of weeks and it finally caught up with me. Well put that with the time change and dealing with kids who are exceptionally tired and cranky too and I was due for a lazy day.

I didn’t even make it to my closet yesterday morning. I did take a few moments here and there to talk with God but it wasn’t the same as my usual devoted time and I really needed that. So last night I stopped in the middle of folding laundry and headed to my closet for a bit. It was just what I needed. Each of the devotions and verses I happened to read last night were talking about the importance of rest. This really helped me not to feel so guilty about being so ‘lazy’.

Mark 6:31 (KJV)

And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.

One of the verses I read was Mark 6:31, it helped me to see that rest is just as important as work. It is also important for us to remember to take some quiet time to be with the Lord. He will refresh us and give us the strength to keep going, even on the toughest days.

Psalm 119:44 (KJV)

So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever.

This was another verse I read from ‘Starting Your Day Right‘ by Joyce Meyer. She reminds us that we don’t have to go into a private room to have time with God. We can talk to Him anytime, anywhere, about anything! Take every opportunity to spend time with Him and I guarantee you will see changes in your life.

I know how hard it is to be a parent, a single parent at that, and I know how busy life can get. I know how tough things can get and just when you’ve about reached the end of your rope the 3 year pulls the cereal out of the cabinet and pours it all over the kitchen floor. Or you decide to mop the floor instead of taking a nap only to have someone walk in with chicken poop on their shoes. I could go on and on but I won’t.

No matter what you are going through right now. God can help! He is there, waiting, just talk to Him. It doesn’t have to be fancy, it doesn’t have to be out loud, just talk. Tell Him about your troubles and ask Him for His help. He is there and He will help. All you need to do is ask.

Matthew 11:28 (KJV)

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

I want each and every one of you to know that I do pray for you and for whatever your circumstances are, I pray that God will supply your needs and bring you rest when you need it.

Have a blessed day!
