All-In-One Homeschool Portfolio Notebook Printables – Updates

I recently shared about the way I planned out our new homeschool year and included some FREE printables to go along with it… they have made life a little neater around here! Now I will share about the Homeschool Notebooks. We did use a similar system many years ago but I couldn’t find the post where I had shared them before so I decided to make a new post with some updates and some new printables.

You do not need to print these out but you can use them as a template for putting together your own notebooks or you can print them out and use them in binders… whatever works for you. We have done both of these in the past and I will try to post some pics of what our current notebooks look like once we get them put together.

Try color-coding your kids to make homeschool life a little simpler!

These were inspired partly by a YouTube video by Zara PhD.

There are various sheets for recording resources used, Book Lists, Field Trips, schedules, and assignments. These would be the perfect way to keep up with EVERYTHING without having to spend hours preplanning EVERYTHING because we all know that LIFE happens and it tends to mess up our plans.

Here are the basics:

  • Resource List
  • Book List
  • Field Trips & Activities List
  • Weekly Schedules
  • Daily Assignments

For the binder method, you just need to print out a packet for each child, make as many copies as you think you will need, hole punch, and place them in the binder with colored tab dividers to keep things organized and easy to find. You can add more pages as needed and use loose-leaf paper to do assignments and then place them in the binder as completed.

Here is what it looks like in a notebook:

It took me between 6-7 minutes to make each notebook up and add the sticky tabs. It will probably take a few minutes a day to write in the daily assignments but I may just have the kids write them in their own notebooks to help them gain a bit more independence.

For the kids’ notebooks, I skipped 2 pages between the first few lists but in my notebook, I left several extra pages as my notebook should last me the whole year and I want to have everything in one place. The kids may get a new notebook for each grading period.

You may find that you don’t need to use the weekly schedule sheet for your kiddos and you can just use it for your record-keeping if that is the case. I also found that Sharpies do bleed through a bit more than I like so I just use a black pen. Sharpies work best for writing on sticky tabs though.

I also have links to other homeschool resources HERE as well as a plethora of FREE DOWNLOADS. If you don’t see what you are looking for please try doing a search on the site as there probably are many things I have forgotten to add to the pages.

Here is a quick picture of how my notebook looks… this truly does make record-keeping and keeping track of assignments so much easier!

You can see that I’ve added a section for our daily chores and meal plans for the day… helps keep me on task!

Have a blessed day!

Updates:

These notebooks worked very well for our last school year and we’ve decided to use them again this year. The kiddos caught on pretty quickly about learning to write things in their notebooks and we had fewer ‘lost/missing work’ cases.

The first week or so can be a little trying if you depend on your kiddos to record all the resources and such but it will be worth the trial and errors to have everything in one place at the end of the year! It was so simple to put away our notebooks and a few small items for record keeping this year.

My planner is set up pretty much the same as theirs with the exception that I have a notebook with ‘pocket dividers’ so I can store printables and such that I might need.

I also set up my schedule section like the pictures below:

I have the weekly plan on the left and then I keep notes and such on the right. It works out pretty well for keeping us organized.

We pray that this helps you out like it has helped us!

God Bless!

  1. Hello! I am new to your blog and I love the section you have on Little House in the Big Woods. I wasn’t sure how to send a message from that page to you as I am struggling to figure out how to access the answer links. When I click link yo access it brings me to page saying that is protected by a password. Can you help me figure out what I am doing wrong please?

    1. Password: momsrock

You can always use the search bar to look up information… ‘answer key password’… and it should help you find what you are looking faster than waiting for me… I’m not always online every day and I do apologize for that but I hope you do see this reply and find what you needed.

I believe the password is on the resource pages if you need it again. https://kirbyskorner.site/2018/08/25/little-house-in-the-big-woods-adventure-resource-list
