By the Shores of Silver Lake Adventure: Language Arts Lesson Plans

These are divided into weekly work as we like to use Loop Scheduling in our home. We simply work on a little bit and then move on to the next subject area. We have four days of ‘school’ and then the fifth day is used to finish up projects that we have been working, for independent study, or fun activities and field trips. Have fun on your Little House on the Prairie Academic Adventures!

Here are our Lesson Plans For Language Arts

These lessons were made to go along with ‘By the Shores of Silver Lake‘ written by Laura Ingalls Wilder. We are planning to go through the whole series and I am keeping track of the different topics we are learning about here on my blog. We hope you enjoy these as much as we have! Friday Frustrations

First off I want to say that my family and I have been extremely BLESSED in so many ways so I don’t want anyone to think that we don’t feel that way but sometimes those blessings can also cause quite a bit of FRUSTRATION.

For example, to say that this house buying process has been fun would not be quite truthful. Honestly, I’ve never imagined it would have been such a frustrating and stressful thing. If I had known this, from the beginning, I may not have felt the same way about the house. Continue reading “Friday Frustrations”

Get A Little Peace Of Mind When You Get A Berkey

Meet Our New Berkey (1).png

I just love Facebook, don’t you? I would NEVER know about anything going on around me if it weren’t for social media… well, I’d know a lot less because I usually have friends who can keep me informed of important happenings as I don’t like to watch the TV.

I would probably not learn about many things though and some of them might be a good thing to not know about but the article I read this morning was something I definitely wanted to be aware of. There has been a confirmed case of Legionnaires’ disease in a city near us.  I might now have found out about the toxic baby food either if it weren’t for FB.

After doing a little research I am feeling much better about the whole situation although I am still praying for the person(s) affected by it. I am thanking GOD that we were able to buy our Berkey system earlier this year as this is one more thing we can worry a little less about! Our Berkey will definitely be making the move to our new house with us.

You can read more about the history of Legionnaires’ disease and its name HERE.

Toxic-Free Tuesday: Toxic Baby Food?

7f202104213fa0c6bc35841dd7643085

This article sent a wide range of emotions through me when I saw it a few days back. I mean how on earth would this have ever been OK? Our precious babies depend on us for EVERYTHING and we depend on these companies to provide us with quality goods and products to help us care for our babies.

We’ve all read or heard about all of the nasty stuff in our foods and we all know how important it is to check the ingredients but many of us would probably just assume that baby food would be SAFE… the fact that these companies are doing this and putting our children’s lives in danger really makes me MAD.

Here is just a little from the article:

[A new investigation by the nonprofit healthy babies bright future reveals in a study 95% of baby foods tested contain toxic chemicals that can lower IQ.

The study found arsenic, lead, cadmium, and mercury in dozens of the 168 baby food products tested, one in four baby foods contained all four metals.] Continue reading “Toxic-Free Tuesday: Toxic Baby Food?”
