Solar Eclipse Party Ideas

Whoa! It feels like this year is flying by!

I’ve been working so hard on this new garden space and planning out some changes for our home and property that April just kinda snuck up on me. I was sitting down to do my monthly orders and I saw that I had some Solar Eclipse viewing glasses in my Amazon cart… had to get them ordered so we could safely view the eclipse next week. Then I remembered that I had started to plan a little party for that day (April 8th) as well… the keyword is ‘started’… it didn’t get very far.

Getting Ready for the Holidays Week 7 (The Week After Thanksgiving)

Thanksgiving is over but there’s no time to rest yet as the real preparations are beginning for the holidays! One of the biggest things we need to do is to take time to sit down and evaluate how our Thanksgiving was. What was everyone’s favorite part? Was there anything that didn’t work well? Do you need to set up a rotating schedule to have dinner at other family member’s homes? (Odd year here, Even year there, or every 3rd, 4th, year?) Would it be better to have a potluck-style meal where everyone brings something? Was there anything you would like to do differently? Start now for your planning for next year so you don’t forget these ‘little things’! We will also be getting all of our Fall decor ready to be put away next week so we can start pulling out the Christmas decor.

Keeping The Crazy Away By Keeping Busy

How’s everyone doing? If you are like a lot of folks then you might be getting a little stir crazy right now and it seems that the shutdowns in our area are only getting started.

Many parents are having to deal with the stresses of their kids being out of school… we all know how easily kids can get bored. Well, if you need some ideas to keep those kiddos entertained then be sure to check out some of the links I have listed under our Homeschool Tab! There are tons of fun (and educational) things to keep the kiddos busy.

I might even recommend that you check out our ‘Little House Academic Adventures’ if you’re kiddos are out of school. There are tons of great links and videos that they can do for FREE while learning about how things were in the 1800s. My kiddos have really enjoyed these lessons so far and we are looking forward to getting moved and getting started with them again!

You can also check out some of the other programs like Kids Cook Real Foods (link under the Homeschool tab), Mystery Science, and/or Skill Trek for ideas to keep your kids in learning mode.

How we use these lesson plans:

Our school week is usually completed in 4 days. We use a Loop Schedule where we work for a designated amount of time on each subject before moving on to the next. After their work is completed for the day the kids are allowed to have independent studies were they can study whatever their little hearts desired.

Our 5th day is an optional day that we use to complete unfinished work or for other activities as we choose.

Please click HERE for a list of resources that we have purchased from Amazon and other suppliers.

Click on the links below for the series you would like to view/use. I will update these links as we get them finished.

Tip: If you want to go to a certain week/chapter or topic simply push the ‘ctrl’ and the ‘F’ button down together and a small bar will pop up. Type in the week number or chapter number you want and it will take you to it.
