You may not know this but January 15th was National Bagel Day and we celebrated by making some sourdough bagels for the first time and they did not disappoint. I have always been a little intimidated by bagels and pretzels but now I know it is actually pretty easy to make the bagels so the pretzels will be next on my list… hopefully before National Pretzel Day. (April 26th is National Pretzel Day, in case you were wondering!)

Super Bowl Foods List
Has time gotten away from you already this year? Or maybe you were surprised by the fact that you are hosting a Super Bowl get-together… after people have already been invited? Yep, but that’s OK because we love our friends and family and we love spending time with them.

This is a recipe we make quite a bit. One of my older sons actually brought some sweet mini peppers to the house one day and made the poppers with the sweet peppers instead of the usual jalapenos and they were AMAZING!
One of the younger boys loves to make these so he takes on the task of getting them ready for the oven whenever we need to make them.

Mr. Awesome loves his Momma’s Red Beans and Rice, This is the recipe, as she wrote it down for us. I know I have a DIY version of the boxed mix but I’ll have to look it up later and edit this post when I find it. This is one of those meals that is even better the next day.
Granny’s Red Beans & rice
As written down by Granny 😊
Ingredients:
- 1 box of Zatarain’s Red Bean Mix
- 3 bouillon + 6 cups water
- 1 pound Jimmy Dean ground sausage, cooked and crumbled
- 2-3 links Nettles sausages, cooked and sliced into rounds
- (1 c. rice)**
Directions:
Add to crockpot. Cook on low until done.
(high for 4-6 hours or low 6-8 hours)
**I use 1 cup (uncooked) rice to fill crock pot up.
I also like to use a little onion and Bell or sweet peppers.
