National Down Syndrome Awareness Day and THM Tiramisu

It’s crazy sock day!!! I don’t have on my crazy socks but I am rocking my #downsyndromeawareness shirt! Most of the kiddos have on some crazy socks to show their support for their extra special siblings and the other extra special people who were gifted with an extra chromosome.

I’ll admit that when we first got the news it was unexpected and I was upset, terrified, and a bit nervous but we had previously been told that what they expected she had would be incompatible with life.

More Victory Garden Resources

For Valentine’s Day/my birthday, I received some potted Tulips and a couple of small lemon trees which I am excited to find a place for. The kids have also been excited as they know this means that we will make a new garden space where there is nothing at present… we all love a good makeover! I’m sure you may have already seen some glimpses of this space before this post comes out as I’ve been writing a little ahead but that’s ok 🙂

I know that my kiddos have been excited to learn more about Victory Gardens so we are constantly reading more and more articles about them as we work on planning out our garden. A Pink Posh Paris-themed Shared Bedroom

Victory Gardening for a Homeschooling Win

I have written a little about Victory Gardens in past posts but recently I went so far as to incorporate them into our homeschool curriculum!

We used the booklet found HERE to calculate how much food we would need as individuals and for the family as a whole. Then we calculated how many rows of each vegetable we would need to supply those needs.

Using those numbers we were then able to calculate how much space we would need for a Victory Garden that would supply us with the majority of the fruits and veggies that we would need to give us an adequate amount of nutrition. This was a little more complicated than we originally expected and it took us several days to calculate the number of beds and rows that we would need.
