Mama’s Southern Pecan Pie

Pecan pie doesn’t have to be hard to be delicious… give this easy recipe a try. Just make sure to get all the shells out of the pecans if you hand shell them… it’s probably a good idea to check your store-bought ones too!

**Special thanks to my son-in-law @moments2lifephotography for the amazing cover photo!

Homemade Bread Stuffing – Updated!

I’ve updated this recipe to include for baking it separately as well as some add-ins to make it a little extra special. I can remember getting out the biggest bowls we could find to make this when I was a kid. This was always the best part of Thanksgiving for me.

Make sure to check out our Old-Fashioned Cornbread Dressing recipe too!

Fun Fact:

What is the difference between stuffing and dressing?

Well, many times stuffing is referred to as being cooked inside the turkey… hence the name while dressing was usually cooked in a separate dish. Many people in the South refer to it as dressing no matter how you cook it.

Chicken Sheet Pan Dinner

The other day I made a quick errand run to Sam’s Club to pickup up a few essentials and grab something for my sister-in-law to be. The kids and I then met up with her and exchanged her items and I got a camera that my brother no longer needed… yippee! Y’all know I have been talking about getting a new camera… new-to-me is new enough!

This actually happens to be the same camera that was used at my daughter’s wedding so I know how well it works and I’m excited to play with it and start taking some awesome photos!

By the time I got home, I was so ready for a nap and EVERYONE was starving. I decided to make a quick sheet pan dinner with some Super Yummy Caulitaters. This meal was so simple!

This particular day I also made a simple cheese sauce to go with it as Mr. Awesome can’t have broccoli without the cheese.

I should have doubled the recipe as EVERYONE DEVOURED it.

Susie Q’s Simple Cheese Sauce

This sauce is so simple to make and can turn a good meal into an extraordinary one with just a few simple ingredients. You can put this on almost anything from meat, veggies, and pasta for a creative dish. Once you see how easy this is you won’t want to go back to store-bought cheese sauce!

This is one of those recipes that I just have in head and I don’t normally measure so I tried my best to estimate the amounts. I’ll really try to remember and measure the next time I make it so I can adjust the recipe accordingly. Continue reading “Susie Q’s Simple Cheese Sauce” →

Momma’s Hushpuppies

These are one of Mr. Awesome’s absolute favorite things to eat when we have a seafood night. They are so much better than store-bought mix brand and you can make them to your liking. I couldn’t find my recipe box the other day so I just whipped up a batch of the storebought kind and Mr. Awesome knew right away that something was different.

I got this recipe a long time ago when I was working at a small restaurant. The cook was such a sweet old lady and she shared quite a few ‘secrets’ with me that have helped me over the years. I have since added a few touches to this recipe which have helped to make this a family favorite! Continue reading “Momma’s Hushpuppies” →
