This is adapted from our Old Fashioned Yeast Rolls, and they are used for special occasions. You can add pretty much any kind of dried or candied fruit to the recipe, and you can add flavorings to the icing, if you like.

Easy Chaffle Recipe – No waffle iron needed!

Maybe these aren’t considered chaffles if you don’t use the waffle iron, but they are still delicious either way. We have a mini waffle iron, but most of the time we prefer to cook them on the stovetop.

Recipes of the Month: March 2026

I will try to post a few recipes that should be fairly budget-friendly and easy to make for anyone wanting to learn to make things from scratch. This month is the start of a new menu for us and it is exciting to bring in new flavors and colors as nature is doing the same.

This month is full of special holidays, but I thought I’d start with National Pi Day on March 14th. We usually go with Pizzas on this day. For sides, we will have breadsticks and/or salad. Here are a few of our favorite pizza recipes:

Cowboy Grub Dinner

This was modified from one of the Trim Healthy Mama recipes. It is so good, and we love it so much… especially on cool days. It is so filling, and everyone always wants more, so we rarely have any leftovers.

We really like to make this with ground venison that has a little bacon mixed with it, but lately we’ve been using a combination of ground turkey and ground sausage.

It might come as a surprise to some that St. Patrick was an actual person, and his story isn’t about leprechauns or pots of gold at the end of a rainbow. Here is a menu we came up with to honor him.
