If you haven’t liked and subscribed to the blog or our YouTube yet then please don’t forget to do that today! Some of our future posts will only be visible to subscribers and we’d hate for you to miss out!

We’re still in the middle of celebrating Sukkot so there hasn’t been a lot of gardening happening. I have a pile of plants to get in the ground and even more seeds to scatter around.

We have several beds to build and areas to clean up… then we plan to make another hoop tunnel to grow on for next year.

We’ve also got plans to build a new chicken coop and convert to old on for quail. We would also like to add some rabbits soon… hop little bunnies, hop, hop, hop, and stop… that’s one of Shyanne’s favorite songs.

So many things to get finished but there is only so much time in a day. We just ask God to show us what needs done and ask for the strength and patience to see it through. He provides what we need, when we need it so we consider ourselves extremely blessed.

He will do the same for you, just trust in Him and hand your life over. It’s an amazing experience!

God Bless!

Yummy Lentil and Chaya Soup

This is a recipe that we make at least two times a week or more. I have recently started using Chaya in place of the spinach and it is so GOOD! You just need to do your research before using Chaya to make sure it is a good fit for you. This soup is still AMAZING with or without spinach or kale as well, so don’t worry if you can’t get your hands on any.

This soup is so good for you and it is so easy to make … you can add just about anything you like and it will only make it better! You can also leave it as simple as you like and still have a healthy, filling meal. I can make a pot of this in the beginning of the week and have it for lunch all week… as long as the kiddos don’t get to it before I do!

Here is a look at one of our Chaya plants…. or ‘yard leaf’ as Mr. Awesome calls them…

I think I will definitely be adding even more next year! I’m also planning to pick some more and cook them up before putting them in the freezer so we can enjoy them all winter long!

Garden updates

Sorry ya’ll… I’ve been a little MIA her lately as we’ve been busy with our gardens and greenhouse.

We’ve put a lot of plants in the ground and made a few changes around the gardens. We’ve also added a few new planting areas.

I’ll post a few picture below but we do have a couple of slideshows up on our YouTube channel as well.

Eating from the Garden: Butternut Squash Medley

Hey guys! It seems like it’s been forever since I’ve sat down to write a post and so much has happened… the most exciting thing is that I’m a GRANDMA! I was able to spend a bit of time with the new parents and I got quite a few snuggles in with the little one before I had to come home. Mr. Awesome and the kids did a great job holding down the fort although the goats did get out and they ate my blackberry bushes. When I asked my husband about it he looked to where I was pointing and said ‘What blackberries?’… they have had quite a hard pruning but I’m hoping they’ll come back better than ever.

We’ve been busy before and after this little ‘vacation’ trying to get our winter gardens in place… the chickens had eaten some of our plants and then someone forgot to water them for a few days so we had a little bit of triage to do and we did have to replace s few things. While planting we are also harvesting what we can from what plants are remaining. I know we really enjoyed the Rosella greens last year so we definitely wanted to give them a go again. I also wanted to try to use some sweet potato leaves as a spinach alternative. I had read something the other day about how it wasn’t always hard to grow different foods but we need to learn to eat what we grow… I really want everything we put our time and energy into to provide us with something whether it’s just nice to look at, to smell, or to eat.

Eclipse Gardening 2024 – Picture Overload!!!

We had a great time watching the Solar Eclipse even though we didn’t experience totality. The kiddos did their Morning Circle Routine and then watched a couple of lessons about the eclipse. Then they had a quick lunch as they were so excited to get out and watch for the eclipse.
