Seasonal Food Preservation Guide

Many of us drool over the beautifully crafted pantries we see on Pinterest or Instagram. They have neatly arranged shelves lined with beautiful canned goods. This doesn’t happen by accident… those jars of proof of lots of hard work that went into growing and preserving each of their contents.

I did a lot of preserving many years ago. I had a garage with custom-built shelves to display our garden’s abundance, but my situation is different now. We dream of a pantry with beautifully stocked shelves, but it hasn’t quite happened yet. I can’t build the pantry today, but I can work on getting some jars filled with delicious food to nourish my family.

Embracing a Slower Pace: Simple Habits for a PEACEful Year

Hey everyone, I hope you are all doing well. We are coming out of a cold spell here, and happy to see some warmer temperatures. We have not set any New Year’s resolutions as we want to develop some lasting habits and routines that help draw our family closer. We will continue to work on routines that we have established, while adding new ones slowly.

I have a lot of plans for our family, home, and blog this year, and I pray that GOD will lead me in a way that I can inspire others and help them to create some simple habits that lead to a peaceful year. We will be focusing more on intentional living, making rest more of a priority, and creating a more peaceful rhythm for our family.

Biblical Feasts: Celebrating Sukkot as a Christian

Please note that I am NOT an expert on the BIBLE or on any of the BIBLICAL FEASTS, but I know others are feeling led to celebrate the FEASTS as we are, so I am just sharing what we have been learning. This post, like many of my posts, is a helpful reminder for myself and a place to put links that I might otherwise forget about.

Who should celebrate the Seven Biblical Feasts?

Well, that is a debate among many, and I have been doing TONS of research. During that research, I read somewhere that we are not commanded to celebrate them, but we are invited to celebrate them as Jesus did. How would you feel if you had invited someone to celebrate with you and they didn’t show up?

First and foremost, I would say that you need to pray and see if GOD is leading you to celebrate… you should pray about any big changes in direction before heading down a path that life may be leading you down.

Holy Days vs. Holidays

I have read some theories that Thanksgiving may have actually been based on the Sukkot Celebrations… it lasted three days while Sukkot lasts for seven, so there may be some truth to this. They both occur around harvest time, and Thanksgiving was a harvest celebration when it first started. The Pilgrims were well versed in the Bible and Hebrew, so they may have adopted this celebration as a time to remember all they had been through.

Why celebrate Sukkot?

Secondly, you should do your own research about Sukkot. Find out the who, the what, the when, the where. the why, and the how… all of it! Then you can decide if and how you want to celebrate it. You can start by reading through Leviticus 23.

Start Your Holiday Prep: Weeks 1 & 2 Guide

The next two weeks, we really need to start gathering our ideas and materials for upcoming holidays… this is something I have done for over a decade to keep from feeling so rushed and frantic before the holidays. We still have those last-minute things that pop up, but everything runs pretty smoothly for the most part.

I really wish I had developed this system a LONG TIME AGO! I will post every week to help keep myself on track and maybe help others also… who knows, maybe I can try to do a quick video about these on YouTube as well!
