This past weekend we had the opportunity to attend the 65th Florida State Square and Round Dance Convention 2019. Our talented callers, Ken ‘Silver Fox’ Perez and Shane ‘Little Bear’ Perez, had a few calling spots and everyone seemed to have a great time dancing to them as well as the other callers that were there.

Here is a quick slide show of some of the pictures we took while we were there.

There are also some more pictures on this site HERE.

We are looking forward to another exciting state convention in 2020. For information on this please click HERE.

If you missed the chance to dance to these great callers you can still dance to them on Mondays at the Mandarin Marauders or on Fridays at the Silver Stars. We look forward to seeing you in a square!

Chocolate Covered Eggs

Updated on 4/20/19 to include a few new flavor varieties!

This is one of those recipes that I could’ve sworn was posted at one time but I can’t find it anywhere. With the Easter holiday quickly approaching I have been asked a couple of times for the recipe and just now took the time to look for it… hence the reason for this post.

You can cover these with white chocolate or any chocolate that you prefer if you like. I can remember my Mom using the ‘leftover’ chocolate scrapings that my dad would bring home from the Hershey factory when we lived in PA. That was so good! We have also used the candy coating that you can find in the baking aisle but mostly we use chocolate chips now.

While the most popular shape for these candies is the egg shape you can also shape them and decorate them in a variety of different shapes, sizes, and colors for whatever the holiday or occasion. I try to decorate the eggs differently to identify the filling inside because it gets quite confusing when you make several different flavors.

We also like to try out different flavors and variations so there is a base recipe that you can adapt and experiment with. I have also seen some variations with candies like M&Ms and Reese’s pieces mixed into the filling… yum!

Just have fun and let the kids help with this one! I have many fond memories of helping to make these as a child. We also made these in high school for many fundraisers and sold out every time. Continue reading “Chocolate Covered Eggs” →

Keeping Memories

This past weekend I was helping to sort out some sheds with Mr. Awesome. There were a ton of items with a ton of memories attached. However some things were decided to go for Yard Sale items and a few were given to me like this photo album…

How often do we take photos and print them out anymore? Do you still clip newspaper articles to keep? I know that I many things saved in my Bible but nothing recent. I also have a few photo albums from when my older kids were little but over the past 10 years or so I haven’t had that many photos to keep.

Pine Tree or Palmetto Bug?

When I first tried Grove products I was on a mission to try to use healthier products in our home. I believe one of the first scents I tried was the Iowa Pine… I was in love! It reminded me of fresh cut pine trees in the mountains. It had been a while since I had ordered this scent and I decided to try it out again because I loved it so much.
