Ground Steak

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs hamburger
  • 1cup flour
  • 3cup water, more or less depending on how thick you want this
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Brown the hamburger while breaking it up so the meat takes on a “sloppy Joe” appearance.

Add in the flour, then the water and stir.

Season to taste.

Allow it to boil and thicken.

This can be served on buns with a slice of tomato and slaw or over mashed potatoes and rice.

Mexican Tortilla Skillet

This meal, along with many of the other meals that use hamburger, comes together really quickly if you brown your hamburger when you bring it home from the store. I usually buy several pounds and divide it up into 1lb sections, then brown it and freeze it for later.

This is super simple and comes together really quickly. Continue reading “Mexican Tortilla Skillet”

Easy Pancakes and Waffles

In our house Thursdays are always Pancake Days. Waffles are usually saved for weekends as they take a little bit longer to make. For special occasions top these with Blueberry Syrup and whipped cream.

This will make about 8-10 pancakes and 6-8 waffles. I usually double or triple this recipe to feed my crowd.

(I am not against using mixes either because I know that mornings can be hectic. Our favorite is the Krusteaz brand of pancake and waffle mixes.) Continue reading “Easy Pancakes and Waffles”

French Toast

We have this almost every Tuesday morning. I double this and sometimes triple it to feed my hungry crowd. I also use an electric griddle to cook them on so I can make bigger batches. These are good with blueberry syrup and whipped cream also. Continue reading “French Toast”
